Styling My Website
Colour Choices
I decided to use a monochromatic colour scheme for my website. Even though there was already a blue ocean and blue sky in the image, this choice helped strengthen the overall mood and effectiveness of the design. A monochromatic colour scheme uses different shades, tints, and tones of one colour, which creates a strong sense of unity and balance. By using the various shades of blue, the ocean image blends smoothly with the rest of the layout instead of standing out awkwardly. This creates visual harmony and gives the website a calm, cohesive feel. The blue background also helps me stand out more because red is a bold, contrasting colour. Against the blue tones, I become the main focal point of the design.
rgb (30, 106, 182) or #1E6AB6
For the colour of my background of my main header and entire background I chose a more matte version of the dark ocean. I found this shade using Adobe Colour Wheel.
rgb (46, 93, 139) or #2E5D8B
For the colour of my border of my website and I chose this colour because it is a more greyish blue to contrast the matte blue.
Font Choices
I chose to use the Roboto font for my entire website because it's clean, modern, and really easy to read on any screen. It also keeps my website looking organized without feeling boring or too serious. Since it works well for both headings and body text, everything feels consistent and smooth as you scroll. Using one font across the whole website also helps the design feel put together and lets the content stand out more.
I embedded this font directly from the Google Fonts website, which made it easy to apply consistently across my entire site.
