Hi, I'm Henry!

My Styling Choices!

Colours

I decided to go with a monochromatic colour scheme for my website. I did this based on the photo on the site home page. The colours in the photo are mostly earthy orange-brown shades. They look very much like darker and lighter shades of one main colour. I decided to reflect this in the overall design of my site. As such, I chose one of the darker shades from the photo as my main colour and used lighter shades of that colour for other elements on these pages.

For the main colour of my page I chosen a colour from my eyebrow to be my main colour. I used Adobe Photoshop to sample a darker section of my eyeborow and determine its value. The chosen colour, shown below, is RGB(86, 37, 7, or #562507. I am using this main colour for all headings and sub-headings on this site.

rgb(86,37,7) or #562507

To get lighter shades of my main colour, I used the website colorhexa.com.

I am using the following lighter shade of my main colour as the background colour for my main headings.

RGB(98, 85 79) or #F9D8C9

The background to the body is each webpage is a subtle gradient going from the top left to the bottom right of the screen, using the following two very light shades of my main colour.

RGB(98, 90, 86) or #FBE6DB

RGB(99, 95, 93) or #FDF2EC

The only other colours used on my site are white and black. All normal paragraph text is in black.

Typography

In keeping with the minimalist, monocrhromatic look of my site, I chose to use plain, easily readable sans-serif fonts. I wanted the body text and the headings to use different fonts but no so different as to fight the calm. controlled look of the site.

I am using the font "Lato" for the main body text. For headings I chose "Quicksand", which differs from "Lato", but not strikingly so. Headings are further distinguished from body text by using different sizes, weights and colours.

Both fonts are embeded from the Google fonts site.
