Why this type of color harmony specifically?
There were many colour harmonies to choose from. To make it simpler for myself, I decided to use a monochromatic scale. Why I chose a monochromatic colour scheme is because it reminded me a lot of the aesthetic 'Frutiger Aero' which I want my website to be inspired by. 'Frutiger Aero' is a style that clashes the clean, ecofriendly, futuristic visuals with mid-2000's to the early 2010's technology. Imagine the Windows XP wallpaper but overexaggerated with fishes, bubbles, and futuristic cities built in the background. Although it is not a one-to-one perfect colour scheme, I just want it to look techy.

Why choose these colours?
Although it isn't as bright as the actual aesthetic, I chose blue as my main colour because it reminds me of the sky and backgrounds of the Windows 10 desktop background. Lots of blues that mix into each other as the Windows logo shines through in the back.

How will the colours contribute to the design?
The darker blues will make the brighter blues pop out. It will make it stand out to the user who's reading and it will be the first thing the user will see when reading the pages on the website.
